Our Story
Jono’s love for brewing and cider-making goes back over a decade, with three years’ experience following his passion as a qualified professional brewer.
However, his West Country roots, and the conspicuous shortage of interesting cider available in London, drove him to pack-in the grain and strike out on his own - moving into the underappreciated world of cider.
Against The Grain Cidery was born - with a mission of crafting exciting and innovative new-age ciders to inspire drinkers and help propel the world of cider to new heights.
Since then we’ve produced LOADS of fun, experimental ciders as well as some much loved classics. We can’t wait to see what we’re going to do next!

Our Philosophy
Against The Grain ciders are crafted to be easy drinking but with all of the subtle complexities afforded by soft tannins, excellent blending and high quality fruit. Our aim is to tempt more curious drinkers into the wonderful world of craft cider. Although a few of our creations will be a bit ‘out there’ for some drinkers, for others it might be exactly what you’ve been looking for.
In terms of our apples, we use the best fruit we can source and where we can’t source local apples to fit our needs, we work with exceptional partner orchards in the UK to help us find what we’re looking for.
We never use concentrates.
We strongly believe in implementing Green business strategies to work toward a more sustainable future. Our apple mulch is passed to farms to be used as feed and our packaging for home deliveries reuses old packaging goods - so as little as possible is wasted.
